Welcome to my blog.
I now live in the land of dreaming. Aboriginal elders in Australia grew strength from dreaming - an intricate form of oral traditon that connected their past and present. The irony is not lost on me that i chose to start my journey in this land of dreaming.
Australia has given me a fresh perpective on a myriad facets of life. Of self realisation, of multi culturalism, of people's perspectives on what is known and mostly what is unknown. It has been a year in which i have discovered myself. And others.
This post pays tribute to the countless people ive met and who's influence has made my journey that much more worthwhile. I am not the eternal optimist. And so the hardened cynic within me also pays tribute to the naysayers and the sceptics who have made me stronger and resilient.
Cheers

Interesting. do give us more on this. I've read that Soecerers of ancient times developed a set of practices designed to recondition energetic capabilities to perceive. They called it 'gateway to infinity'. This apparently is a powerful ancient technique to alter the state of consciousness. Im talking of 'dreaming as written about by Carlos Castaneda. Is the aborigin practice something that stem from or run parallel to these old shamanist practice or something different?

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments.
I’m clearly not an expert on the Aboriginal dreaming but let me share with you the little I know.
Aboriginal people believe that mythical beings established the way of life – and these messages were communicated during a period called the Dream Time . And so with the end of Dream time their ancestors were given a guide to life in a sense – a social and cultural heritage and background. Because they believed in a united world of past and present, body and spirit, they believe that rocks and rivers and things in nature are all connected to the ancient beings – and as such are connected to the Dream Time. In seeing the world as a unified whole and in respecting the connection of man with nature – they create a powerful bond. This is why aspects of nature take on a greater role of reminding them of the eternal truth.
It’s a shame that during their ‘colonisation’ – aboriginals were moved from their traditional lands – and in doing so they lost their ‘connect’ with the environment and the symbols in their environment that connected them to their ancestors and heritage. It thus became a loss of their independence, their rights and also their values, heritage and a loss of their notion of ‘ reality’.
Because they believe in reincarnation – the notion of Dream Time is even more deeply entrenched -as it’s a direct link to Dream Time and their ancestors. I have often come across this notion of reincarnation and ancestral worship in so many cultures – and you understand the reason for people to want to feel connected to their heritage through this.
I digress from your point but what amazes me is the fact that nature and man are seen as inter related – and at times of global warming, illegal poaching and mass scale environmental destruction – you wonder how far man has distanced himself from his place and role on this planet.
The gateway to infinity - sounds intriguing - am going to google this - it probably explains why hynosis and neuro linguistic programming work in this modern day and age.
